What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Once the bone bonds to it, a custom crown, bridge, or denture is attached on top — restoring how your smile looks, feels, and functions, while helping preserve the jawbone and the teeth around it.

Implants are one of the most predictable, longest-lasting ways to replace missing teeth. Whether you're missing one tooth or several, they restore appearance, function, and confidence without leaning on the neighboring teeth for support. At Naeem Family Dentistry we handle the entire process — placement, restoration, and long-term maintenance — under one roof, so you're never sent across town in the middle of treatment.

Are implants right for you?

Most adults missing one or more teeth are candidates. We begin with a comprehensive exam and 3D imaging to check your jawbone, gums, and overall dental health — then build a plan around your goals. You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Are missing one tooth, several teeth, or a full arch
  • Want a fixed solution that doesn't come out
  • Have healthy gums and enough bone (or are open to grafting)
  • Are tired of a loose denture or a failing bridge
  • Want to protect the healthy teeth you still have
  • Are in good general health

Not quite ready? We'll tell you honestly — and map out any preparatory steps, like treating gum disease or adding bone, before we begin.

How implant treatment works

Four unhurried steps — start to finish, in one practice.

Because we both place and restore implants here, your records, imaging, and care team stay in one place the whole way through.

1

Consult & 3D plan

A comprehensive exam and 3D scan map your bone and bite. We design the implant position digitally and review your options and costs together.

2

Implant placement

The titanium post is placed in a short, precise, guided procedure — most patients are surprised how comfortable it is.

3

Healing

Over a few months the bone fuses to the implant, creating a stable foundation. A temporary keeps you smiling in the meantime.

4

Your final tooth

We attach a custom crown, bridge, or denture — color-matched to your smile — and check the fit and bite.

One implant system · three solutions

Matched to how many teeth you're replacing.

One missing tooth

Single-tooth implant

One implant and one crown fill the gap without touching the healthy teeth on either side — the most conservative way to replace a tooth.

Implant + custom crown
Several missing teeth

Implant-supported bridge

Two or more implants anchor a fixed bridge to replace a run of missing teeth — no removable partial, no adhesives.

Implants + fixed bridge
A full arch

Implant-supported denture

As few as four implants secure a full set of teeth that stays put — a stable, confident alternative to a traditional denture.

Why patients choose Naeem for implants

Start-to-finish implant care, under one roof.

Many practices place the implant and send you elsewhere for the crown — or refer the whole thing out. We do both here.

Placed & restored in-house

One team, one set of records, one point of accountability — from the first scan to the final bite check. No hand-offs across town.

3D-guided precision

We plan every implant digitally before treatment day, so placement is accurate, efficient, and predictable.

A family practice since 1993

Four doctors who know your history and will still be here for the follow-ups, the cleanings, and the next chapter of your care.

Cost, insurance & financing

No surprises — before you're in the chair.

Every implant plan is different, so we review yours in plain English at the consult: what it includes, what your insurance covers, and what's left — itemized, in writing.

  • We file your dental insurance for you and apply every benefit available
  • A written estimate before treatment — no line-item surprises

Implant questions, answered

What patients ask us most.

Do dental implants hurt?

Placement is done with local anesthetic, and most patients compare the recovery to a routine extraction — mild soreness for a day or two, managed with over-the-counter pain relief. We'll review comfort options with you beforehand.

How long does the whole process take?

Most implants take three to six months from placement to final crown, because we allow time for the bone to fuse to the implant. You'll have a temporary tooth in visible areas the entire time.

How long do implants last?

With good home care and regular checkups, the implant itself can last decades — often a lifetime. The crown on top may eventually need replacing, just like a natural tooth's restoration.

Are implants better than a bridge or denture?

Implants are the only option that replaces the tooth root, which helps preserve the jawbone and doesn't rely on neighboring teeth. We'll walk through the trade-offs honestly so you can choose what fits your mouth and budget.

Can you place and restore the implant in one office?

Yes. We handle both the surgical placement and the final crown, bridge, or denture in-house — so your care, records, and team stay in one place from start to finish.
